Shaping Roads and Trails
Water running down forest roads and trails can erode surfaces, moving soil and other pollutants into nearby lakes, wetlands, and streams. One way to prevent this is to shape road surfaces so water runs off of them into nearby vegetation, rather than pooling or flowing along the surface. This publication discusses options for road shaping.
