The Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997

The August 5, 1997, signing of the Federal Taxpayer Relief Act included a number of provisions, two of which are significant for the private forest landowner. The two provisions are a cut in the capital gains tax for noncorporate taxpayers individuals, and estate tax relief.
